Q1 What is "Li-ion battery" ?

"Li-ion battery" is a member of a family of rechargeable battery types in which lithium ions move from the negative electrode to the positive electrode during discharge and back when charging. Li-ion batteries use an intercalated lithium compoundas one electrode material, compared to the metallic lithium used in a non-rechargeable lithium battery.

The electrolyte, which allows for ionic movement, and the two electrodes are the constituent components of a lithium-ion cell.

Q2 Advantages of Li-ion batteries.

1. Higher energy density (1,00 Wh/KG) : almost twice higher than Ni-Cd (50) & Ni-Mh (60).

2. Very low self-discharging rate : less than 10%. Ni-Cd (30%) & Ni-Mh (35%).

3. No memory effect : "memory effect" describes the specific situation in which certain NiCd and NiMH batteries gradually lose their maximum energy capacity if they are repeatedly recharged after being only partially discharged.

4. Environmental-friendly : No toxic material is contained.

Q3 Are Li-ion batteries dangerous?

Li-ion batteries can be dangerous under some conditions and can pose a safety hazard since they contain, unlike other rechargeable batteries, a flammable electrolyte and are also kept pressurized.

Because of this the testing standards for these batteries are more stringent than those for acid-electrolyte batteries, requiring both a broader range of test conditions and additional battery-specific tests. This is in response to reported accidents and failures, and there have been battery-related recalls by some companies.

Q4 Battery shipment by express.

To send your parcel contained/equipped with Li-ion batteries smoothly, make sure to hand in the following documents with your parcel:

1. MSDS  * 1 set
2. Li-ion battery caution label on the parcel (cannot be covered by stickers or waybill)
3. Lithium battery safety document * 1 set
4. UN38.3 test report * 1 set
5. Cargo transportation test report * 1 set
6. Drop test report * 1 set

EMS do not accept any Li-ion battery delivery, we suggest that you send the parcel by other international express courier.

For more information, please contact your local express courier agent.

Q5 Battery shipment by sea/air.

While booking a cargo, make sure to hand in the following documents for confirmation:

1. MSDS  * 1 set

2. UN38.3 test report * 1 set

3. Cargo transportation test report * 1 set
4. Drop test report * 1 set

In most cases, the carrier will approve our batteries can be shipped as non-restricted goods.
